Awards Ceremonies
Martin Sheen refused the 1972 Emmy nomination for his work in "That Certain Summer", saying that actors
shouldn't compete against each other. He was subsequently nominated for another Emmy in 1974 for "The Execution of Privat
Slovik", and he also withdrew from the competition. Likewise, he refused to compete for a Golden Globe for his role
in "Blind Ambition". His first award was an Emmy in 1986 for his work directing "Babies Having Babies". Since
then, Martin Sheen has been a perennial favorite for his work, and "The West Wing" garners frequent nominations for him. His
fans are always glad to see him at these awards events and are absolutely delighted when he wins.
